Sunrise at the Taree Summer Regatta 2011

AGE REGATTAS

The Ages of (Rowing) Man

A "Junior" is anyone 18 or under. A "master" is anyone 27 or over. Both use December 31 as the effective date, so your "rowing age" is your age at the end of the calendar year.

Crews in age or grade races should calculate their correct placement by averaging their ages/grades, and , if necessary, rounding down.

Masters Age Ranges

A - Minimum age of 27 years

B - 36 years or more

C - 43 years or more

D - 50 years or more

E - 55 years or more

F - 60 years or more

G - 65 years or more

H - 70 years or more

I - 75 years or more

J - 80 years or more

Age Handicaps

Rowing is one of the few sports where it pays to get older, and where sometimes your years on the planet are considered more desirable in a crew than your consummate skill with the oars...
