Step 2 - Body Engage

Hand position. - Blade should not need tense grip.

Just enough grip to maintain control.
Knuckles over centre line of handle.
Thumb on end of handle.

Points to note
Exercise
  • Hands and body carried by leg drive
  • Leg drive gives better balance.
  • Boat passes blade placement.
  • HANDS move in straight line parallel to water.
  • Hand grip - no tension.
  • Leg drive is assisted by addition of body engagement.
  1. 0.25 and 0.50 strokes.
  2. Practice hand grip
  3. Check blade depth by "touching exercises'.


Take time between exercises.
