- First one-third of slide is recovery from power stroke
and should be preparation for transition to the next power stroke.
- Past the one third slide the balance should go to the
feet.
- Legs act as springs being compressed. Control is gained
by awareness.
- The knees, about 100 mm apart.
- The legs control the preparation for the next stroke.
- The slide speed slows as the rower prepares to place the
blade.
- The blades are turned square, the handle being turned
in the hands.
- The blade is placed by a lifting of the arms.

blade in the water.
